Project Overview

This project attempts to explore a new design mechanism. By exploring the impact of drama on the development of the play, the collision of "sensibility" and "rationality" behind the development are found.This relationship is reflected in the site, demonstrating the urgent need for emotional architecture within this rational site.

By researching and analyzing relevant ideas and theories from previous generations, this design strategy developed a new one. It focuses on two factors that people initially consider -- structure and form.

Design Concept

As Louis Kahn says, architecture and design are not merely mechanical arrangements of function and form, but should stem from a profound understanding of human inner desires. The design estimate the volume sizes required for each function in the building, and determine the skyline form of this design based on the building height planned for the campus. Refering the height difference within the site, different functions are ingeniously placed into the existing volume, and the next step of ground shape generation begins.

Acoustic Analysis

You can see that both the sound pressure analysis results and the sound intensity analysis results are relatively uniform, and the overall acoustic effect is quite ideal.

Audience Layouts and the Acoustic Simulation

Elevation Design

Rather than blindly pursuing architectural form, this design extracts the order and relationships of the campus' existing volumes into a design grammar. Through structured geometric transformations, this grammar is redistributed into new functions, new circulation routes, and public beneficiaries. In this proposal, form derives from the site rather than expressing itself. Structure and function determine the details of the form, while governance determines whether the form can survive long-term.

Relationship with the Campus

The theater is integrated with the campus community, increasing the functional spaces in the building andenriching the usage scenarios within it. In this case, the theatre was no longer just a theatre; it gradually became the core venue for campus stories and an important communication bridge in interpersonal interactions.
